Marietta Eye Clinic Covid Information

Last Updated on 9/16/2022

Dear Patients of Marietta Eye Clinic,

For over 50 years, hundreds of thousands of patients have entrusted one of their most precious gifts in life – their sight – to our eye doctors. From the routine eye exam to the most complex sight-saving eye surgery, our ophthalmologists and optometrists provide the most comprehensive and skillful care available in the Southeast.

We are thrilled to resume normal business hours at all locations and are booking appointments for all eye care needs (i.e., primary eye care, optical products and services, specialty eye care – glaucoma, cataract, retina, oculoplastic – and surgical eye care).

Our COVID-19 task force, comprised of some of the most experienced medical doctors in Georgia, is monitoring developments of COVID-19 regularly. We will continue to adhere to the protocols and national guidelines provided by the CDC, local, state, and federal directives to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. MEC is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care for our patients. We look forward to taking care of your eye care needs!

With Sincere Appreciation,

The Marietta Eye Clinic Board and CEO

MEC MASK POLICY UPDATE

Effective 09/19/2022 Marietta Eye Clinic is initiating a mask optional policy due to changes in the prevalence of COVID-19.  We ask for kindness and understanding as we initiate this process.

If, as the patient, you would like the staff and providers working with you to wear a mask, we will do that with no problem.

Several of our providers are immunocompromised or vulnerable to greater risk of complications from respiratory diseases (or have members of their family or household in the same situation) and may ask you to wear a mask.  Please do so if requested.  We can provide a mask if necessary.

We also perform procedures in clinic that have a risk of infection related to respiratory droplets.  We have seen a significant decrease in infection rates since we initiated a masking policy.  We will continue to require a mask in situations where an intraocular procedure is being performed.

There can be healthy debate about many aspects of the pandemic. We do know that masks reduce the rates of transmission of airborne infectious diseases in general. We ask that everyone be kind and respectful to each other.  We don’t know the circumstances that each of us is facing and will do the best we can to protect each other.

You can ask us to wear a mask. We will honor your request.

We can ask you to wear a mask.  Please honor our request.

Dhanu Meleth, M.D.
