Marietta Eye Clinic Welcomes Barbara Smith, M.D., Cornea Specialist

Marietta Eye Clinic is proud to welcome Barbara Smith, M.D., to our team of board-certified ophthalmologists. Dr. Smith is a fellowship-trained specialist in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery, bringing advanced expertise and a patient-first approach to our practice. She will be serving patients at our Cartersville, Kennestone (Marietta), and West Cobb offices.

A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Smith earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis, followed by a prestigious cornea fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Smith’s clinical interests include the surgical and medical management of corneal diseases, cataract surgery, and the long-term restoration of visual health. Her research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Neuro-Ophthalmology and Ophthalmology. She has also contributed to educational resources including the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s EyeWiki.

Known for combining technical skill with compassionate care, Dr. Smith shares, “I try to approach each patient with the same honesty and care I’d give my own family—often asking, ‘If this were my mom or dad, what would I recommend?’”

Outside of medicine, Dr. Smith enjoys tennis, golf, hiking, cooking, and exploring new cuisines.
