Abigail E. Kalish, M.D. is a Cornea, Cataract, and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist at Marietta Eye Clinic.
Dr. Kalish completed a fellowship in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia, where she served as Chief Resident and received the Tuck Award to attend the American Academy of Ophthalmology Mid-Year Forum presented by the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. She completed an internship at North Florida Regional Medical Center, HCA-UCF Consortium, Transitional Year.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Dean’s Clinical Honor Society. She also received the Alumni Association Descendent Scholarship and the Medical Scholars Program Research Scholarship, graduating in the first quintile with a 4.0 GPA.
Dr. Kalish received her Bachelor of Science in Literature, Media, and Communication with a minor in Biology and a concentration in Biomedicine and Culture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating with highest honors from the Honors Program. She was recognized with the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Most Outstanding Student Award, the Cowan-Turner Servant Leadership Seeker Award, and named both a Stamps Leadership Scholar and a President’s Scholar.
Her research experience includes work on breast cancer screening outcomes in African American women, characterization of corneal higher-order aberrations in children with suspected anisometropic refractive amblyopia, and corneal stromal roughness after femtosecond LASIK flaps. She is a published author in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Kalish has a strong commitment to service, volunteering with the CerviCusco Program in Peru, Hope for Augusta and Spark Academy, the Girls and Boys Club of Augusta, and the Pediatric Vision Screening Fair. She has also held leadership roles in numerous academic and community organizations, reflecting her dedication to both patient care and community engagement.
