Dr. Charles Ho’s passion for eye surgery began in college. While starting as an engineering student, he chose to extern at Johnson & Johnson’s IOLAB. There, he helped develop two significant pieces of ophthalmology surgery equipment: 1) a pressure feedback box to improve cataract surgery fluid dynamics, and 2) a fiber optic module for retina surgery. “During that time, I developed a profound passion for eye surgery,” Dr. Ho recalls. “I would spend all day excitedly watching the surgeon visitors doing surgery in the wet lab.” Proud of his Chinese heritage, Dr. Ho combines Eastern medicine philosophy to his Western medicine education – and treats the entirety of the patient, not just the eyes. Dr. Ho began his practice at Marietta Eye Clinic in 2001 and has concentrated on transforming his patient care into a team approach. He now focuses on surgery and oversees a care team to ensure patients receive the same quality care that he has provided over the past 20 years at Marietta Eye Clinic. “With this approach, I rely on other specialists who can continue that care as part of a team,” Dr. Ho explains.
