About Dr. Dublin
Dr. Allison Dublin did not know she wanted to pursue ophthalmology in medical school. It was a combination of childhood experience and the urging of her mother that led Dr. Dublin to the field. “My great-grandmother lost her vision to glaucoma, while my mother had several corneal surgeries and my dad had retinal detachment,” Dr. Dublin grew up speaking Spanish in Brownsville, Texas. Being bilingual has been a blessing for Dr. Dublin, who believes communication is key to providing quality care. The ability to connect with patients is why she chose to become a doctor. “Building relationships with patients is one of the most essential things to being a doctor, and to do that you have to get to know them,” explains Dr. Dublin. Dr. Dublin obtained her B.A. in Spanish and Biology from the University of Texas at Austin and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She completed a preliminary medicine internship at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading, Pennsylvania and completed her residency at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she was chief of ophthalmology. She completed her training with a glaucoma fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
