About Byron Long, M.D.

Inspired by his mother, who was a registered nurse, as well as a family friend who worked as an emergency room physician, Dr. Byron Long announced that he was minoring in pre-med while pursuing a business degree during his junior year of college. Dr. Long was undecided about where to focus his medical training. It was during an ophthalmology rotation that he discovered he was fascinated with the human eye. “I couldn’t help but be motivated by the remarkable outcomes of eye surgery that I witnessed,” he explains. Dr. Long also discovered oculoplasty, or the plastic and reconstructive surgeries of the eye. “It is a specialty that allows me to be a surgeon and maintain ongoing patient contact in a routine clinic setting.” When asked about his guiding philosophy as an oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Long replies, “My greatest satisfaction as an oculoplastic surgeon is when I see my patients after the surgery and realize how happy they are with the results. I discourage it when I think they may be seeking what will be an unnatural appearance. I strive to leave them looking rested and rejuvenated rather than sculpted or tightened. When we both agree that the natural but youthful appearance is best, it is a good thing.”

"I recently had medically necessary eye surgery with Dr. Bryon Long on a Friday morning in their Canton Rd, Marietta, office. The procedure took 30 minutes and recovery 30 minutes. After a total of 2 hours, I was out of the office and on my way home. I had no pain after the procedure and followed their aftercare procedures to the letter to minimize bruising & swelling for a faster recovery. After 1 week, I returned to their office and they took out the sutures and gave me a second set of aftercare instructions. Following their procedures was very straight forward.
