Tears are very important to your eyes: They provide lubrication and protect your eyes from foreign debris. If your eyes do not produce tears properly, you may have a blocked tear duct.

Symptoms of Blocked Tear Ducts

  • Crusting of the eye
  • Excessive tearing
  • Infection in the tear duct
  • Eye discharge

Tear Duct Surgery (Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy)

During tear duct surgery, the clogged tear duct is bypassed by making a new drainage canal into the nose. A small tube is placed in this canal for several months to keep it open. The surgery typically takes 45 minutes.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of blocked tear ducts in Atlanta, call us at 770-427-8111 to schedule an eye exam. Our doctors will carefully examine your eyes to properly diagnose your condition and recommend the best treatment protocol.
