Kristen Peterson, M.D. is Newest Addition to Team of Eye Doctors
MARIETTA, GA September 9, 2019 – The Marietta Eye Clinic, one of Georgia’s largest and most comprehensive eye care practices, is pleased to announce the addition of ophthalmologist Kristen Peterson, M.D. to the active ophthalmology staff. Dr. Peterson will provide comprehensive ophthalmology, dry eye specialty care, and cataract surgery services.
Dr. Peterson is licensed by the State of Georgia to practice medicine and attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, graduating summa cum laude. She completed her internship at the Baptist Health System in Montgomery, AL, and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama. Dr. Peterson also completed an Ocular Immunology Fellowship at Duke University.
“We are thrilled to have this gifted and compassionate comprehensive ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon join our clinical team here at the Marietta Eye Clinic,” commented Marietta Eye Clinic’s President Byron Long, M.D. “We have clinics located across Cobb, Cherokee, Douglas, and Paulding counties. All of these counties continue to grow significantly in resident population, creating a compelling need for well-rounded ophthalmologists who can provide state-of-the-art care to patients across the spectrum of needs and pathologies. We continue to grow the number of providers we have on staff to meet this growing need and consider serving patients across metro Atlanta a great privilege and honor.”
“I am elated to return to the state where I first started my medical education to practice ophthalmology,” commented Dr. Peterson. “It is truly a privilege for patients to entrust us with their eye care, and I will work daily to do my best for them to preserve and restore vision.”
Cobb County’s aging population and Metro Atlanta’s growing population present potential access to care challenges for people of all ages. The leaders of the Marietta Eye Clinic continue to add expert providers such as Dr. Peterson to meet the growing demand for sight-saving ophthalmology services, optometry services, and corrective lenses.
“We have grown from a handful of providers over 50 years ago to a bustling, comprehensive clinical and surgical practice with 31 providers to meet the needs of the communities we serve. We are a patient-centered ophthalmology and optometry practice,” commented Sue Fitzpatrick, CEO of the Marietta Eye Clinic. “To us, this means we continuously study community population trends and needs to position ourselves to best meet those needs. Our communities have shown a significant need for increased access to high-quality ophthalmology, optometry, and surgical services, and we are answering this need.”
