As you may know tears are very important to how your eyes feel and if you are not producing tears properly you may experience crusting of the eye, excessive tearing, a possible infection in the tear duct or even eye discharge in various forms. The blocked tear ducts will typically occur at the nasolacrimal duct.
If you are suffering from these types of symptoms you may have blocked tear ducts and we encourage you to schedule an eye examination so that you can be diagnosed and treated.
If tear duct surgery is required the eye doctors at Marietta Eye Clinic can bypass the clogged tear duct by making a new drainage canal into the nose. A small tube will be placed in this canal for several months to keep it open. The surgery is relatively short not typically lasting longer than 45 minutes.
